I believe that those of you who read me regularly know that I’m a lifelong animal lover and advocate. Yet, my efforts through the years pale in comparison to those of an individual who selflessly protects, nurtures, and provides medical care for abandoned and abused animals. Dogs and cats, primarily, but I’m certain that Myriam Ben Salem would do the same for any animal in need of a bowl of food, a wound cleaned, or a tender whisper assuring an innocent creature that “You matter.”

Her stories bring me to tears and give me hope that goodness still exists in this screwed-up, terrifying world. And Myriam’s actions prove that angels do walk among us.

If you, like me, are of the mindset that humanity is in the toilet, please read the following and if you can, support Myriam’s efforts to aid her beloved “babies.”

This is truly a situation where every little bit helps.
