Corporate BS is right. I didn’t take one for the team. I took one up the butt when I was laid off OVER THE PHONE after 15 years. I wasn’t even allowed to go back to collect my things. My idiot supervisor packed my stuff up (talk about an invasion of privacy) and shipped everything to me in boxes that were falling apart.

And the layoffs were due to the ineptitude of others — virtual nimrods who lost a pile of business. Isn’t that always the case?
