Finally
On being “on the mend”
I was worried there for a while, folks. It’s been a minute since I’ve felt so lousy that I wasn’t able to soldier through a workout, even a minimal one. Or, keep up with my ramblings on Medium. But this particular mofo of a bug that bit me said, “no way.”
So, I’ve been down for the count for nearly two weeks. If I wasn’t feeling better today, it was off to Urgent Care for me, but thankfully, I’ve turned a corner. I believe so, anyway.
Perhaps I had Covid. I don’t know. But, typically, I took matters into my own hands and have been pounding tea with lemon, honey, cayenne pepper, and ginger to relieve my congestion. And, of late, I’ve been adding a tipple of whiskey to that mix which, if you care to look it up, you’ll discover that spirits can actually help break up that awful “brick in the chest” sensation, thereby making coughs more “productive.”
Of course, one can quickly become less productive, overall, if one goes overboard, but I’ve been relatively moderate as feeling like absolute shit is not a good look on me.
I told my good buddy PJ Jackelman, who listens to my tales of woe and offers up her unfailing support (as does my gal Suzanne V. Tanner), that life has taken on a surreal element for me. As if I’m flying in time and space and…
