Hi, Tessa. I had two short films produced, one in L.A and the other in New York. Both won awards and screened at festivals. The New York film was awardd "Best Short" at the Pan African Film Festival in Cannes.
THAT SAID, it's so much harder to have a feature produced as now, screenwriters are expected to "package" their projects with talent attached, or bring some financing to the table. Producers want to do as little as they can get away with, it seems. A few years ago, my thriller was optioned by the Executive Producer of "The Dallas Buyers Club" but it fell through when he took his company in a "truth-based-only" direction, so the rights to the script reverted back to be.
It's really hard. Even with a rep. Hey, I wonder if I could get Ev Williams so pony up some financing? What do you think? ;-)
