I believe they thought a pregnancy would keep. my father out of the draft but it didn't take as he was sent to Korea and was in Japan when I was born.

My mother and I moved in with her parents and siblings and when my dad got home, he had a hell of a time connecting with me as I thought my "papa Joe" was my father. I think that set the stage for a lifelong "bumpy" relationship.
