When it comes to fluff fests, I’m on the wagon
Other than posting the occasional original story and republishing those from my Substacks, I don’t put any stock in this platform's initiatives. Take Medium Day, for example, and the sham of the Medium Writers Challenge. What did we reap from those enterprises?
Anyone?
The MWC was a pretense engineered to whip the masses into a competitive frenzy. The winner who took it all posted one story here, a piece of crap, took the 50 or 60k that she “won” and hasn’t been heard from since. Not a loss as her prose was poop.
I didn’t participate in the Medium Pub Crawl (cute) because, even though I own several publications, I wasn’t “chosen” to be a booster, and I applied. That’s unfortunate because I’m guessing most writers here gravitate toward those publications where they’ll make the biggest impact, as in getting boosted. And because I can’t boost anyone, I’m persona non grata. That’s because I tell it like it is and Medium doesn’t like that.
For those of you who attended, I hope your time was well spent and that you benefit in some way that doesn’t include a tote bag.
