Thanks so much, Patti. You make a great point. Let me see, as to your question, yeah, I guessed I danced around my comment. Probably because it doesn't take much to offend people, but this is what I've come to admire about black women: They appear to possess a greater sense of self-esteem/self-worth. They're comfortable in their skin. To me, that level of confidence is inspiring. I hope that helps.

As for the "how," I don't know of an easy fix for the situation, but, for the younger women, parents need to pay more attention to what their daughters are doing and why they're doing it. Perhaps these girls are seeking the attention they lack at home.
