Why do we say we’re “fine” when we’re anything but?

What a hard, shitty, gritty world this is. And often, a hard, shitty, gritty life. Racial and sexual bias. Hate crimes. War. Inflation. And here in the US, a treasonous psychopath who wants to defile the Oval Office, yet again.

How do we endure all of this? Especially when we have personal challenges on top of all the other crap? Some of us cope in unhealthy ways. I’m guilty of that as I have to work hard at not drowning my sorrows in booze. I’m getting better as I get older because my body can’t take the abuse, but it’s a constant struggle. Still, waking up without a low-grade hangover and a sense of remorse is a reward worth the work.

Do you see what I did here? I told the truth about myself. Revealed a flaw, of which I have many. As do you. We’re all flawed in different ways, and for the most part, it’s those flaws and imperfections that make us interesting.

Holy shit. I must be interesting AF.
