This morning, I engaged in my usual masochistic routine of scrolling through X while diving into my first cup of java. Normally, I’m not surprised by the vitriolic spewings of the MAGA crowd, or MAGGATS, as I prefer to call them.
But, today, there was one in particular, that made me feel sick to my soul.
For those of you who watched the Democratic National Convention and were choked up, as I was, by the display of love and pride that Gus Walz, the son of Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Tim Walz, unabashedly showed for his father, I’m guessing you were choked up, as was I.
When Gus pointed to Governor Walz and, with tears streaming down his face mouthed, “That’s my dad,” my reaction was visceral. Nearly everything we need to know about the “Coach” was revealed in that brief moment.
No doubt, there were people across this country, and the world, who yearned for this level of adoration in their relationships with their parents and children.
