Why Do I Feel Such Disdain for Billie Eilish?
Because she’s further proof that we champion mediocrity

I’ve grown to hate the Academy Awards telecast. It’s taken me years to conclude that it’s a bullshit competition where the chosen stand in front of their peers thanking everyone from God to Wolfgang Puck to the Dolby Theatre cleaning crew for their blessed state.
Tell me, how can one compare apples to oranges? A family drama to a thriller? A comedy to a sci-fi blowout?

That said, I must be full of shit because I watched the Oscars this year, albeit, I did tape the program to allow for fast-forwarding the commercials which were more plentiful and lengthy than in recent memory.
I’d not seen any of the nominated films which may sound strange coming from a screenwriter, but, I’ve grown tired of banging my currently un-repped head against Hollywood’s doors. So, yeah, I’ve got a mouthful of sour grapes and I’m cramming in more all the time.
